On-Campus Options for Harvard College Students
The 2025 spring move-out date is Sunday, May 18, at 12 PM.
If you’re a Harvard College student and need to remain on campus after this date, check your eligibility for on-campus housing after move-out. The College only allows eligible groups to remain on campus.
Review the application deadline and cost information for your eligibility group, if it applies.
Graduating Seniors & Commencement Participants
Extended stay housing is available to graduating Seniors who reside on campus and are participating in Senior Week and Commencement, as well as to approved individuals assisting with Commencement activities. There is no requirement to submit an application through the Residential Portal. For any inquiries, please reach out to your House Administrator.
Move-out: You may remain in your assigned housing until May 30 at 2:00 PM.
Housing and Food: There is no added cost for your housing and food through May 30 at 2:00 PM.
Cross-Registered Students
If you are cross-registered in an MIT, NEC, or Berklee course and have a mandatory in-person academic commitment after May 18, you need to apply for extended stay housing in the Residential Portal.
Application Deadline: TBD
Move-out: If approved, you may remain on campus until one day after your required class or exam.
Housing and Food: If you apply by the deadline, there is no added cost for housing and food past spring move-out on May 18.
Pre-Approved Student Workers, Athletes, or Organizations
You may be eligible for extended stay housing as part of your affiliation with a pre-approved Department, House, student organization, or Athletics.
Move-out: Your Department or Group Leader will notify you directly if you are eligible for housing and food past spring move-out on May 18.
Housing and Food: Your Department / Group will notify you if there is any cost to you for housing and food.
Application: You do not need to apply in the Residential Portal.
Independent Applicants
The College has an extremely limited number of independent housing spaces reserved for students who meet the following criteria.
The combined cost for housing and food is $45 per night for independent housing if approved.
Apply early in the Residential Portal if you need this housing type and have a back up plan incase your application is not approved.
Criterion 1: Housing Insecurity
Select this criterion if you cannot return home for health or safety reasons. Due to the limited number of spaces, we will prioritize applicants with unsafe housing situations.
Criterion 2: Researcher Housing
Select this criterion if you are offered an on-campus research opportunity with Harvard Faculty* this summer and do not have housing through another program.

**Applications received after this date will be reviewed, but housing is not guaranteed, given the time needed to process the request.
Summer Housing Rental Application (CLOSED)
The application for Summer 2024 is now closed.
- The contract period for summer rentals begins on Friday, June 7, and ends on Friday, August 9. Details about move-in and move-out will be provided if you are offered an apartment.
- The contract dates are not flexible as facilities need time to get rooms ready for the upcoming academic term. To ensure your belongings are not accidentally discarded, plan to be fully moved out by the move-out date.
- You are responsible for planning your housing after August 9. You should not anticipate receiving campus housing after your contract ends. Make alternate arrangements if you need housing between summer move-out and fall move-in.
- You may wish to arrange with a third party to store your belongings. The College is unable to provide storage on campus.

Harvard College houses eligible groups during the summer recess. If you are a Harvard College student applying for summer housing at the College, have a back up plan. Summer housing at the College is limited.
Summer Housing 2025 for Large Groups
This form is for large groups (from within and outside of Harvard) that are interested in requesting summer housing on campus in 2025. Please fill out the Request Form in its entirety to be considered.
